This impressive structure is the gem of Barcelona's Gothic Quarter.
The cathedral, which was built mostly during the 14th century (the facade is from the 19th century),
lies on the remains of both Roman worship grounds, as well as an ancient basilica, and is dedicated to
Saint Eulalia, patron saint of Barcelona. Its giant lacework steeples overlook a plaza,
which is always filled with street performers, antique markets, and artists.

Barcelona is the capital of Spanish province Catalonia
and there are 2 official languages - Catalan and Spanish
(Castellano). Almost everyone in Barcelona understands
Spanish, but sometimes they prefer not to use this language. All announcements
in public transport, street names and newspapers are in Catalan.
The hill Montjuic is one of the most significant
landmarks of Barcelona. The huge park lays 213 meters
above the harbor and is one of the major tourist attractions
in Barcelona.
