A football fan was left 3,000 out of pocket after bungling bookies wrongly paid him £10,000. Leigh Rigby, 32, bet £1 at 10,000-1 on an own goal being scored in the Barcelona v Real Madrid match on April 1. Though no own goal was scored in the 1-1 draw, online bookies Blue Square still paid out Leigh's "winnings". The dad-of-two then went on a spending spree with his windfall. Leigh, an IT specialist from Birmingham, said: "I took all my friends and my family out for a slap up dinner and bought loads of toys and clothes for my kids. But Blue Square spotted their error and snatched back the £10, 000 from his account 2 days later - leaving the dad-of-two £3, 000 in the red.
