Festival de Barcelona Grec: June 26 – August 5
Sunday, June 26 started with an opening of the Spanish summer festival, which pleasures guests with excellent theater, music and dance performances. The festival is called Festival de Barcelona Grec and originally was only an event for those fond of theatre, but then expanded into dance and music, hosting top names in all three artistic branches. This year it is a special case as Grec celebrates it’s 30th anniversary. Also, it is the last year when the festival is organized by Borja Sitjà, who was Grec’s director for the last six years. Among the music performances there are: performances by Portuguese singer Dulce Pontes, jazz pianist Michel Camilo, flamenco guitarist Tomatito; theater program combines a production by controversial director Calixto Bieito and Classical performances such as Shakespeare’s Hamlet and The Tempest, Homer’s Iliad, and Thomas Middleton’s The Changeling. The Festival ends August 5.
