Leadership of the Spanish Liga.
Barcelona and Osasuna retain their joint leadership of the Spanish Liga at the end of week fifteen after victories against Sevilla and Real Mallorca respectively. In a round of fixtures producing few goals, Real Madrid recovered life and hope with a debut Liga triumph for temporary coach, Juan Ramón López Caro. At the Santiago Bernabeu, Robinho scored the goal of the weekend with a sweet left foot strike from the edge of the penalty area to double Real Madrid's lead after Sergio Ramos had powered home a Zidane corner for 1-0. At a pre-match presentation ceremony, Ronaldinho dedicated his Golden Ball award to his mother, Doña Miguelinha, and the Nou Camp crowd before scoring the decisive goal against a determined Sevilla side, which was unlucky not to take a share of the spoils. Meanwhile, with a 1-0 win against Real Mallorca, Osasuna continue to create history with a record equaling eighth consecutive win for Mexican coach Javier Aguirre, which equals a similar run under Ivan Brzic in the 1983-84 season. The only goal of the game was scored by Webó early in the first half.
