Hammershøi and Dreyer at the CCCB

CCCB and Copenhagen's Ordrupgaard present an exhibition Hammershøi and Dreyer, available at the Barcelona Centre de Cultura Contemporània till May 1. This is an intent look at works of two prominent Danish artists of the 19th-20th centuries, the painter Vilhelm Hammershøi and the filmmaker Carl Theodor Dreyer. According to the event organizers, despite working in two different art spheres, Hammershøi and Dreyer express the same ideas and have many common features in their works. Both of them express the main dramatic intensity of the scene with the help of interiors, both have the same attitude to the depiction of human bodies – mainly female ones, turned with their backs to us. Then, the way the artists use light in their works is simply impeccable. And, finally, there are some common features in how they depict interiors. All of these common things can be observed at the exhibition.
