Trash People at the Plaça Reial

A unique “exhibition” was introduced in Barcelona two days ago and will be available till June 9th. “Trash People” by HA Schult, an artist particularly interested in environmental issues, has arrived to Plaça Reial to make Spanish people aware of dangers faced by our environment. Trash people is a representation of what modern human is: the product of mass consumption that produces enormous amounts of waste. Needless to say, the artist’s aim is to make people realise that it is necessary to stop contaminating the Earth. The idea to organize an action like this came to the artist’s mind in 1996 and since then, Trash people have been traveling around the world. Before its arrival to Barcelona, the exhibition has seen Giza Pyramids in Egypt, Moscow’s Red Square, the Great Wall of China, Grand Palace in Brussels, Piazza del Popollo in Rome and many other sites.
