Advertising posters at MNAC

Current exhibition at Barcelona’s MNAC (Museu Nacional D’Art De Catalunya) presents a selection of advertising posters from the archives of the Gabinet de Dibuixos i Gravats. It throws the light on the history of advertising through images and traces the roots of advertisement. It all started at about 1900 when posters advertising cigarettes, transatlantic voyages and chocolate drinks were created. Among the exhibits there are works by American and European artists such as Chéret, Mucha, Steinlen, Hassall, Meunier, Privat-Livemont, Hohenstein, True, Bradley, Parrish, and Penfield. There are also works by the Catalan artists: Cases, Rusiñol and Riquer. The exhibition is opened till 30 September 2007.
