Gas explosion in Barcelona.
At least one person was killed and 11 people injured, including three firemen, after the collapse of a four story building in the town of Santa Coloma de Gramanet following a gas explosion at around 6.30am 12 Jan. morning. According to a Barcelona fire brigade spokesman, they were informed of a possible gas leak at an adjacent property on the Rambla Ferren, at around 5am and dispatched a fire engine to investigate. One person, whose identity has not been confirmed, is still missing, and it is not known whether this person was a resident or a passer-by. An adjacent building was also damaged, a total of 150 people have been evacuated from their homes and regional police have cordoned off the area. The collapsed building is connected to the natural gas supply.
