Return Salamanca Archive files to Barcelona.
The 500 boxes of documents stolen by Franco forces during the Spanish Civil War arrived back in Barcelona this morning. A convoy of several cars escorting three vans (one blue and two white), pulled up outside the Cataluņa National Archive building in Sant Cugat del Valles (Barcelona) at around 8.30am, leaving 30 minutes later having completed the delivery. According to several eyewitnesses, the operation was carried out "discretely." After being removed from the National Archive in Salamanca, the files arrived in Madrid on the 19th January, where they were held until the result of a judicial appeal on behalf of Salamanca town council last week, which found in favour of the government's decision to return the files.
